Senate passes RD-180 amendment, NDAA

AIA welcomes the news that the Senate has passed Sen. Nelson’s (D-Fla.) amendment to the fiscal year 2017 National Defense Authorization Act, permitting the purchase of 18 additional RD-180 engines for use in Atlas V launch vehicles for national security satellites.

AIA letter to Senate Armed Services Committee on RD-180

AIA sent a letter to the Chairman John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Ranking Member Jack Reed (D-R.I.) of the Senate Armed Services Committee June 3, expressing support for Defense Secretary Carter’s request for authority to purchase 18 additional RD-180 rocket motors to support national security launch requirements.
