National Security
The National Security department is responsible for all defense and national security issues that affect the aerospace industry and its interests. The department works with its corporate counterparts through a variety of AIA councils and committees to monitor and assess policy, regulatory, legislative and other issues that may affect AIA members. The department also works to develop, coordinate, communicate and implement positions and initiatives designed to strengthen the nation's defense industrial base, technological competitiveness, economic health, and national security. The department's specific areas of focus range from defense policy, defense budget, industrial base, to aerospace workforce issues. The department is also responsible for a wide range of technical issues, such as standards and standardization in the aerospace industry. The National Security department carries out its duties and advances these issues primarily through its corporate councils.
