      2008 Product Support Conference
      Clearwater Beach, FL
"Logistics Revitalization – Building on the Basics"
The critical importance of logistics to the warfighter dramatically increased with the beginning of the Global War on Terror (GWOT), and has remained high. In this time, newer logistics initiatives such as Performance Based Logistics (PBL), Condition Based Maintenance Plus (CBM+), and Supply Chain Transformation have been implemented, each with the promise of revolutionizing logistics. The importance that logistics plays in overall operational effectiveness is demonstrated by: the establishment of Materiel Availability as a key performance parameter early in system development; the increased availability of professional logistics development programs; and the major restructuring of corporations to address sustainment and total life cycle systems management. Despite these transformative initiatives, the basic elements required for effective logistics endure. Indeed, we sometimes need reminding that while these newer initiatives provide additional capability, the overarching goals are unchanged.

AIA Joint Services Technical Publications Workshop
      Clearwater Beach, FL
This year's workshop theme is Technical Publications: Harmonization with Other Support Elements and Specifications. Under this theme we are hoping to see how Tech Pubs fits within the global suite of International Support Specifications i.e. S3000L, S2000M etc. and also how Tech Pubs can be utilized to support many of the other elements of Logistics. While all the ten elements of logistics will not be addressed, we will review how technical data can be re-used to support training, how conversion of legacy data will result in better Design Interface and Maintenance Planning, and how to establish business rules for using S1000D. In addition we will present several international success stories from the use of S1000D and hear from the Services on how they are utilizing technical data in their overall support strategy. This workshop is structured to facilitate discussions during both the formal panel sessions and informal social events. As part of this event, there will be demonstrations from industry and government members as part of the exhibits.

Workshop: What the European Union's (EU) REACH Regulation Means for your Business (Even if you're not in the EU)
      Bethesda, MD
The REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation (and Restriction) of Chemicals) regulation entered into force throughout the European Union (EU) in June 2007, with phased implementation and significant work required before 2009. AIA together with major aerospace manufacturers recognizes the impact that this regulation can have on companies, both large and small. To address this, workshops to help businesses understand REACH have been organized and will be run at different venues across the country. The Workshops are available to Member Company participants and their suppliers.

Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS 2008)
      Palm Springs, FL
The objective of DMSMS 2008 is to focus on the need for proactive DMSMS management to support the warfighter, and includes activities required to attain this goal such as Value Engineering, Total Life Cycle Management, or Parts Management. To meet this objective our approaches to managing the ever-present obsolescence problem must be examined. Logistics Management of the foreseeable future will require current force support, reset of today’s major systems, and development of the future force. This situation requires technical initiatives throughout the Total Life Cycle, preparing for constant changes in industrial base capabilities. As the military seeks a quicker, more lethal warfighting capability, we must also implement business practices that respond to non-availability issues rapidly and efficiently. Utilization of modern information technology to anticipate problems and share solutions becomes a requirement to support the warfighter. This conference will present an opportunity to hear the views of military and industrial leaders on what will be required to support the modern warfighter and a forum to discuss the best programmatic, technical and logistics approaches.
