AIA ANNOUNCES SPACE COUNCIL OFFICERS

January 10, 2001-WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Space Council of the Aerospace Industries Association announced new officers for 2001-2002. Frank Slazer, Director of DOD Sales and Business Development, Delta Launch Services,The Boeing Co., Huntington Beach, California, will serve as the council's new chair. He will replace Dave Morris, Director, Space Programs, Honeywell, Washington, D.C., who served with distinction as the 1999-2000 chair. The council's new vice chair will be Ray Ernst, Senior Director of Military Programs in the Washington Operations office of Lockheed Martin's Space and Strategic Missiles Sector.

The Space Council's Steering Committee will be comprised of Frank Slazer (chair), Ray Ernst (vice chair), Dave Morris (past chair) and Bruce Mahone, AIA Director of Space Policy (executive secretary). Larry Lewis of the Boeing Company, Huntington Beach, California will leave the Steering Committee after eight years of exceptional and visionary service. A member-at-large to serve on the steering committee will be announced later this year.

Mr. Slazer will also remain as chair of the AIA Space Council's Launch Committee. Jeffrey Trauberman, Director of Information & Communications Systems in the Boeing Washington office will serve as chair of the council's spacecraft committee, with Mike Fudge, Scientist, AES Division for ITT Industries, Alexandria, Virginia, serving as vice chair. Ray Ernst will also serve as chair of the council's newly formed Space Technology, R&D, and Industrial Base Committee.
