Statement from John W. Douglass, AIA President and CEO on the anniversary of September 11
WASHINGTON, D.C., September 5 - More than 700,000 aerospace company employees across the nation have been asked to observe a moment of silence on Wednesday, September 11, to commemorate the tragic loss of life at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and on Flight 93 one year ago. The simultaneous observance of the moment of silence will take place at 1:00 p.m. Eastern, noon Central, 11:00 a.m. Mountain and 10:00 a.m. Pacific. None of us in the aerospace industry can recall those tragic events and human suffering that resulted without feeling pain for the families of the victims. I hope that this moment of silence will provide an opportunity for America's aerospace workers to pause and remember these events and reflect on what they mean to us as Americans.
We invite others in the aerospace community to join us and take a moment to remember those who were lost and those who risked their lives in rescue and recovery attempts.
