Siegel Announces Retirement From AIA To Serve As Full Time President of NCAT

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 12 - Stanley N. Siegel, AIA's vice president of technical operations, has announced that he will retire from that position December 31 to serve as full time president and chief operating officer of the National Center for Advanced Technology (NCAT), the non-profit research and education foundation formed by AIA for the advancement of product and process technology.

He will also be a consultant for AIA, chairing the association's International Standards Organization Technical Committee 20 (Aviation and Space Vehicles).

AIA President and CEO John W. Douglass said, "Stan has always been undeterred by the many challenges confronting the defense industry over the years, seeing the opportunity in those challenges and knowing what needed to be done. His steady hand and many years of experience in aerospace and defense will help NCAT as it addresses Defense Department transformation issues."

Douglass added that AIA will benefit from Siegel's chairmanship of the standards committee, bringing continuity to the ever-changing world of standards.

Siegel joined AIA in 1978 as director of technology programs and became director of the aerospace operations service in 1985. He was named vice president of operations in 1987 and vice president of technical and operations in 1988.

As vice president Siegel is responsible for the activities of the AIA Technical Operations Council.

Siegel has been president and chief operating officer of NCAT since 1994 in addition to his duties as AIA vice president of technical operations.

Before joining AIA, Siegel was an executive with Bell Aerospace Textron.
