Earth Observation Summit To Be Held in Washington, D.C.
WASHINGTON, D.C. July 27--
The Aerospace Industries Association is leading an effort to gather industry support for the Earth Observation Summit that will be held in Washington, D.C., on July 31, 2003. The purpose of the summit is to promote the development of an integrated earth observation system among governments and the international community so that we can understand and address global environmental and economic challenges.
Speakers at the one day event include Colin L. Powell, Secretary of State,
Spencer Abraham, Secretary of Energy, Donald L. Evans, Secretary of Commerce, Sean O’Keefe, Administrator, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Paula J. Dobriansky, Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs, Gale A. Norton, Secretary of the Interior, and James Connaughton, Chairman, White House Council on Environmental Quality.
The information derived from earth observations enhances business productivity, protects our health and safety, and promotes effective utilization of resources. The cooperation of all nations in establishing a global approach to Earth observation is critical to our future.
