Intern, Team America Rocketry Challenge
Looking to gain experience working on the cutting edge of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and workforce development? The Aerospace Industries Association is the premier trade association representing the nation’s the nation’s leading aerospace and defense manufacturers and suppliers and we are currently seeking an intern to support the Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC).
Nature and Scope of Work:
The Team America Rocketry Challenge is the world’s largest model rocket contest and the aerospace industry’s signature STEM workforce development program. Designed to encourage middle and high school students to study math and science and pursue careers in aerospace, TARC has reached over 60,000 students since the first annual competition was held in 2003.
This position is responsible for supporting various elements of TARC program and assisting with planning the TARC National Finals to take place in May.
The intern will gain experience in a variety of areas including public and media relations, donor development, and analytics. As time permits, the intern may support research and policy work, with a focus on STEM education and aerospace workforce issues.
This position reports to the TARC Manager.
Compensation is $100 a month to help cover transportation costs.
Typical duties include:
• Processing team registrations, answering questions from students/teams
• Supporting planning and execution of TARC National Finals
• Tracking and assisting with sponsor development
• Managing social media channels
• Assisting with media tracking and media relations
• Drafting and editing memos, letters, and emails to teams
• Contributing to marketing strategy, plan implementation, and campaign analysis
• Investigating and helping to implement strategic partnerships
Must have excellent written and oral communication abilities, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
Preferred: STEM interest/background; knowledge of social media, graphic design, video editing, or web development.
Hours and schedule:
Hours and schedule are flexible to accommodate the intern’s situation. Applications are processed on a rolling basis.
