Arlington, Va. (March 23, 2024) – Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning today released the following statement after Congress passed appropriations legislation for the Department of Defense:

“Today’s passage of critical appropriations legislation ends this year’s cycle of continuing resolutions, which has created uncertainty across the government that reverberates throughout the American economy. The Aerospace Industries Association thanks Congress – led by the House and Senate Appropriations Committees – for providing funding to bolster the defense industrial base and defend the country. We especially offer our gratitude to House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Kay Granger for her dedication to regular order and her longstanding commitment to ensuring our troops have the best, American-made equipment.

“Over the last two years, the Department of Defense and the defense industrial base have faced increasing demands amid global conflicts and growing threats. Industry requires clear demand signals and stable, sufficient funding to innovate and deliver critical technologies to American warfighters, allies, and partners.

“While this legislation is a necessary step, it can’t be the last. Now is the time to build capacity in our defense industrial base to meet national security needs, enhance deterrence, and advance warfighting capabilities. The FY24 defense topline will only take us so far; Congress must finalize a national security supplemental package as soon as possible.”
