International sales of U.S. aerospace products jumped sharply for a second consecutive year in 2006 to $85 billion, dominated by $39 billion in commercial aircraft sales.
Aviation and aviationrelated industries are responsible for 11 million jobs in the United States and provide America's largest source of manufactured exports.
Fair, transparent, and consistent international trade rules and national policies are key to a thriving global marketplace for commercial aerospace products. International sales of commercial aircraft and parts have contributed to record high annual aerospace industry exports and a $55 billion trade balance that bolsters the entire U.S. economy.
A predictable, transparent and efficient export control system will enable continued sales growth and promote partnerships across the globe. Likewise, the U.S. aerospace industry must be assured that all players in the global marketplace will abide by transparent and harmonized international trade rules.
America Needs:
- U.S. leadership to establish global aviation policy and standards.
- A modernized export control system with predictable, efficient, and transparent regulations.
- Transparent and harmonized international trade rules.
