The Aerospace Industries Association offers its congratulations to CIA Director Leon E. Panetta on his nomination by President Obama to succeed Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates.
“Director Panetta has a long and distinguished career as a public servant,” said AIA President and CEO Marion C. Blakey. “He brings far-reaching expertise and insight to the position at a time when ongoing conflicts and budget pressures require a particularly strong leader at the department’s helm.”
Industry is looking forward to meeting soon the new secretary. “From continuing the efficiency initiative and strengthening the aerospace and defense industrial base, to making sure that we are prepared in every way to provide the best possible equipment to the warfighter, an on-going dialogue with the secretary is vital to our partnership with the department,” Blakey said.
We greatly appreciate Secretary Gates’ service to the nation, added Blakey. “Secretary Gates has been a stalwart leader, both strong and decisive, putting the nation and our men and women in uniform first each moment of the day for more than four years.”
