AIA Opposes Draft Executive Order on Political Donations

The Aerospace Industries Association expressed deep concern about the effect that a draft Executive Order on political donations would have on the government contracting process if implemented.

“As written, the Executive Order introduces the possibility that donations to a political party or candidate will be a considered when contract proposals are evaluated,” said AIA President and CEO Marion C. Blakey in testimony at a joint hearing of the House Small Business and Oversight and Government Reform Committees today. “Political contributions should never be considered by any procurement officer when making a contract award decision.”

Counterfeiting has been around for nearly as long as humans have traded things of value. An Aztec manuscript from the mid-16th century, for instance, cites warnings against making false cacao beans, which were used as currency. Counterfeiters made wax replicas and refilled hollow beans with sand.

Today counterfeiting affects manufacturers as well as treasuries, and is a particular concern in aerospace and defense.

Embry-Riddle Worldwide, AIA to Produce New Aerospace Industry Publication

The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) and the Center for Aviation and Aerospace Leadership (CAAL) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide have agreed to jointly produce a new publication for the aviation and aerospace industry.

Aerospace Industry Report 2011 will be published in May 2011 and will provide an extensive business and market review of the U.S. aerospace industry, as well as the global economy.
