Susan K. Tonner recently joined AIA as Assistant Vice President for Acquisition Policy. Previously she was the senior director for Federal Public Policy at TechAmerica.
Tonner brings more than 30 years of experience in government acquisition policy to AIA. She is also the founder of the highly respected, multi-association Acquisition Reform Working Group.
“AIA will certainly benefit from Susan’s extensive knowledge and experience,” said AIA President and CEO Marion C. Blakey. “Her involvement with government and industry procurement and acquisition policy will be a major asset in reaching the goals of this association.”
Before her work at TechAmerica, Tonner was named Senior Manager of Compliance and Ethics for SAP America, Inc. in 2005, focusing on public policy issues related to federal government procurement and lobbying policies as well as compliance and ethics policies.
She was managing editor for Acquisition Directions in 2001, a publication of Acquisition Solutions, Inc., and worked for AT&T Government Solutions as director of Public Policy and Industry Relations and director of Government Compliance and Business Ethics from 1995 to 2001. She was also the vice president for Government Affairs at NDIA from 1989 until 1995. Early in her career she worked at AIA as a procurement policy legislative liaison.
In her new role at AIA, Tonner will coordinate and present the positions of AIA member companies on a wide range of regulatory and legislative issues, rules, policies and procedures that affect federal acquisition and financial management of the Defense Department, the military services and other government agencies.
