Crane Aerospace & Electronics to Provide Landing Gear Control on Airbus A320
LYNNWOOD, Wash. - Crane Aerospace & Electronics has been selected by Airbus to provide an improved Landing Gear Control and Interface Unit (LGCIU) for the Airbus A320 Family. The LGCIU system communicates the position status and controls the movement of the aircraft landing gear and gear doors. The system is made up of two identical electronic boxes and associated proximity sensors and targets.
Greg Ward, Aerospace Group President for Crane Aerospace & Electronics commented on the significance of the contract, "With close to 3000 A320 Family aircraft in service worldwide, and with the aircraft only about halfway through its production life, we are extremely pleased to expand our involvement with this successful program. Even more so, we are extremely proud that Airbus selected us, as it reflects highly upon our successful relationship on recent programs such as the A400M and the A380." Crane is currently developing the Brake Control System for Airbus' A400M airlifter, and provides about 300 proximity sensor channels and associated sensor interface electronics for the Airbus A380. Crane has supplied the proximity sensors and interface electronic components for the A320 since the program's inception.
