Michigan Aerospace Manufacturers Association Secures Four-year Contract from Major Tier Supplier
Grand Rapids, Michigan, June 24, 2008 -- The Michigan Aerospace Manufacturers Association (MAMA) has secured a four-year contract from a major Tier supplier to produce millions of fasteners in over 200 styles for both military and commercial aircraft. The work will be handled by MAMA member company Imperial Metal Products (Grand Rapids). Imperial provides precision machining, assembly, and JIT warehousing services to a variety of industries.
"We are very excited about receiving this business, which is our largest contract since our launch in September of 2007," said MAMA vice president Craig Wolff. "We believe this is an excellent example of the aerospace opportunities that exist for Michigan manufacturers."
Said Imperial general manager Erik Denslow, "As a member of MAMA, we were able to accelerate the marketing of our capabilities to an industry untapped by Imperial. Our success with this challenging opportunity further establishes our position as a technical expert and precision machining company able to serve any industry."
The Michigan Aerospace Manufacturers Association is a consortium of Michigan AS9120, AS9100 and NADCAP certified manufacturers. Capabilities of the combined MAMA companies include CNC machining, heat treating, welding, stamping, hydroforming, plastic injection molding, laser and waterjet cutting, cold, warm and hot forming, NDT inspection, and more. With current membership at 24 companies from across the state, Wolff says he expects the group to ultimately grow to over 50 firms.
The mission of MAMA is to serve and represent the interests of Michigan's aerospace manufacturing firms with a single, unified voice while providing educational programs and industry research to its members. It also serves to promote the capabilities of the Michigan manufacturing community to the global aerospace industry. MAMA is headquartered at 549 Ottawa Avenue, Suite 307, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
