Infotech Sponsors “The SkyHawks” for SAE’s Collegiate Aerospace Design Competition
East Hartford, CT, March 5th, 2012 — Infotech Enterprises, a leading global engineering services and solutions provider, is sponsoring a 10 student team, (The SkyHawks) from the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies in Dehradun, India, who is participating in the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Aero Design West competition from March 16th – 18th.
The competition draws over 60 teams from around the world resulting in a crowd of approximately 1,500. This year, teams from the USA, India, Poland, Canada, Mexico, and Turkey will design and build a remote controlled model aircraft that will compete in tests. The three day event will take place at Valley Flyers field in Van Nuys, CA.
“This competition is a valuable educational experience and we truly appreciate Infotech’s support to make it possible for us to participate,” said Dr. Om Prakash, HOD, Dept. of Aerospace Engineering, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun.
This year, The SkyHawks are competing in the “Regular Class” category where the challenge is to make an aircraft that can lift the maximum Payload. Five team members competing this year participated in the 2011 SAE Aero Design Competition in where they placed 12th in the “Regular Class” category learning many valuable lessons from their experience. This year, they will apply those lessons and are aiming to bring home the first place trophy.
