Sypris Electronics’ Tempest Testing Lab Receives Government Certification
TAMPA, FL. (April 13, 2009) – Sypris Electronics, a subsidiary of Sypris Solutions, Inc., announced that it has been approved as a Certified TEMPEST Test Services Facility by the National Security Agency’s (NSA) TEMPEST Certification Program, (TCP). Sypris Electronics is one of only ten companies in the United States and the second in the state of Florida to receive this stringent qualification by the NSA.
TEMPEST testing ensures products are created to reduce or eliminate the electromagnetic emissions that would otherwise be a security risk of sensitive information being unintentionally compromised. This critical test service is performed on ruggedized electronic equipment that is deployed to troops in the field, and suppressed commercial information processing equipment used in military and government installations.
The NSA manages two TEMPEST Certification Programs: the Products and Test Services Programs. Sypris Electronics has been recognized under the Certified TEMPEST Test Services Program. The NSA currently manages a list for use by U.S. Government departments and agencies, U.S. Government contractors, and eligible TEMPEST product manufacturers to conduct TEMPEST testing related to the development and production of TEMPEST products.
