NextGen Institute Announces New RFP

The NextGen Institute is currently seeking aviation industry experts to participate in a symposium and in technical interchange meetings with FAA and Single European Sky ATM Research personnel to discuss the requirements of Trajectory Based Operations. TBO involves moving from an air traffic control system based on the ground to an air traffic management system based above the ground. Individuals interested in applying should be familiar with trajectory information and exchange, trajectory prediction and interoperability, and have one of the following areas of expertise:

  • Pilot
  • Air Traffic Controller
  • Avionics
  • Airframe
  • Decision Support (e.g. Time Based Flow Management, Traffic Flow Management System, etc.)
  • Automation – Flight Data Managers (e.g. En Route Automation Modernization)

Participating experts are expected to submit a Recommendations Report to the office of the FAA Chief Scientist – Architecture and NextGen Development every three months during the course of this 18 month project.

Established in 2005, the NextGen Institute brings together the experience and expertise of the aviation industry and government to work together in making the Next Generation Air Transportation System a reality. The NextGen Institute has been working primarily with the Joint Planning and Development Office and the FAA through the volunteer efforts of industry working group participants.
