Since January 2010, the Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) has new leadership in Chairman Dr. Jesse Mangual of Textron Inc. and a strong sense of purpose among current and new members.
The QAC represents AIA in matters concerning product integrity and quality management system policies, standards systems and processes. It also fosters government-industry relationships relating to product integrity and coordinates industry-wide activities in areas that assure compliance with product integrity requirements, identification of trends, opportunities and enhanced operational efficiencies that contribute to improved customer satisfaction. The QAC reports to the Technical Operations Council (TOC) within AIA’s National Security Division.
In particular, the QAC has begun improving communication and outreach activities with government customers, industry associations and other AIA committees on a wide range of quality issues such as counterfeit parts mitigation and non-destructive test workforce certification. The Counterfeit Parts IPT, which reports to the QAC, will shortly be releasing a white paper with recommendations for both the industry and government on counterfeit parts mitigation. The Nondestructive Test (NDT) subcommittee is proposing a national accreditation board for NDT professionals to standardize accreditation and ensure ongoing excellence in the NDT field.
We are the collective voice of the aerospace community, providing input and direction on defense and commercial issues covering all aspects of quality lifecycle management. We welcome and value the participation of quality assurance leadership from all member companies and encourage you to contact us.
