The second joint AIA/NDIA Workforce Committees state STEM meeting of 2012 will take place in Renton, Wash., July 11-12. The Boeing Company will host the meeting, which will be attended by the Washington STEM network, members of Business and Industry STEM Education Coalition and other stakeholders.
The meeting will provide a statewide forum to share best practices, foster collaboration in STEM education activities and make commitments to drive greater impact for students, communities and the state. The target audience is AIA and NDIA members and other Washington state business leaders, educators, policymakers and community stakeholders. We expect the largest turnout for any of our state STEM meetings to date.

The agenda includes a roundtable discussion among industry leaders; plenary sessions on innovations and promising practices within PK-12 and postsecondary education; inspiring and preparing underserved students in STEM; the role of STEM networks in advancing STEM education and local economic development and a Q&A opportunity with gubernatorial candidates Rob McKenna and Jay Inslee.
Breakout working sessions will address the following topics:
A reception is planned for late afternoon on July 11, and attendees will also have the option of taking a behind-the-scenes tour of the Boeing plant in Renton on July 12.
