
April 2-4, Indianapolis, Ind.: AIA’s Workforce Committee has a busy spring planned with the first of four state meetings scheduled in Indianapolis the first week in April. The meeting will feature keynote speeches, stakeholder presentations and group breakout discussions at the Rolls-Royce Training Center. Senator Dan Coats, Brigadier General Jeffrey Hauser, USA, and State Superintendent of Schools Tony Bennett are among the invited speakers
April 12, McLean, Va: Representatives from the AIA Workforce Steering Committee will meet at SAIC to discuss how aerospace companies invest in STEM education and workforce preparation, what programs we invest in and the results we have collectively achieved. This information is important not only for portraying our industry’s aggregate impact on America’s future workforce, but also for understanding how we can improve our leverage in STEM education moving forward.
June launch of SETforJOBS on the Internet: The Entertainment Industries Council is building a social networking platform for organizations and individuals with a passion for STEM learning and workforce preparation. Although the platform will eventually include content for parents, teachers and students, it is being designed for business and industry groups. Companies are encouraged to share information about workforce needs and the programs and activities they support. A soft launch of the site was conducted at the Business and Industry STEM Education Coalition meeting on February 23. Content and comments are welcome. www.SETforJOBS.org
