Nearly 400 industry and government representatives and members of the media gathered Dec. 16 in the Grand Ballroom of Washington’s Mayflower Hotel for AIA’s 45th Year-End Review & Forecast Luncheon. Aerospace industry sales will increase in 2009 and 2010, said AIA President and CEO Marion C. Blakey, and the industry remains strong and resilient despite pressure from a weak economy. She hailed the maiden flight of the Boeing 787 a day earlier as a game-changing event in the marketplace. The luncheon was sponsored by the Communications Council.
