The field of engineering is at risk for a drought in resources; human resources. The demand for engineers is increasing while the numbers of young people considering the field are dwindling.

So what can we do about it?

AIA is joining forces with Engineer Your Life (EYL), a national campaign to showcase engineering as an exciting and rewarding career choice for young women. In fact, seventy-nine percent (79%) of girls who are using the EYL web site report engineering as their number 1 job choice. www.EngineerYourLife.org.

You will also learn about the Engineer’s Pledge, a call-to-action for members of the engineering community. You will leave this one-hour webinar with new, research-based messaging and outreach resources that will help you reach out and encourage youth, especially young women, to consider engineering.

And finally, many people who love being engineers have said that they didn't consider engineering, or even know what it was, until someone suggested it as a career option. Sometimes just one adult can make all the difference in helping young people discover their dream jobs. How are you helping?
