Second Quarter 2000
The aerospace industry booked a record $52 billion in new orders during the second quarter of 2000. Profits and sales rose 15% each. Exports increased 19% despite sharply lower military exports, as civil exports surged 31% higher. Employment remained fairly steady -- down less than 1%.
