Second Quarter 2005
All indicators improved during the quarter and many reached their highest level since AIA began compiling Economic Indicators back in 1997. In particular, orders surged nearly $20 billion, or 46%, to $59 billion, exports increased 30% to $19 billion, and overall sales rose 10% to $50 billion--all eight-year highs. Profits and military exports also rose to their highest level since 1999 at approximately $3 billion each. The industry continues to add workers to its payrolls; employment increased 9,000 during the quarter to its highest level in three years. Shazam!
