Third Quarter 2000
Every aerospace indicator turned down in the third quarter. New orders, off 25% from the second quarter's record level, nevertheless totaled a respectable $39 billion. Aerospace industry sales -- in line with AIA's full-year forecast -- totaled $36 billion. Profits plunged as sales declined and margins nearly halved.
