Fourth Quarter 2000

Every aerospace indicator turned up in the fourth quarter. Employment, despite on average showing no increase between the third and fourth quarters, has increased each month since September. New orders, at $50 billion, nearly matched the second quarter’s record. Profits increased 29% on higher sales and greater exports. However, for the year, only orders have increased.
