Fourth Quarter 2002
Increasing sales provided the only bright spot during the quarter. While sales increased, profits completely evaporated and all other measures were negative. Specifically, aerospace employment declined from record lows and the usual surge in orders and civil exports during the fourth quarter of the year failed to materialize. Clearly, the growth in sales has come from domestic customers, and most likely, the U.S. Department of Defense.
