Fourth Quarter 2005
2005 was a record year.record sales, record profits, record orders, and record exports. Similarly, the fourth quarter had its share of record results. Most notably, the industry booked about a year's worth of orders during the final quarter. Orders doubled to $96 billion, pushing the full-year's total to $240 billion. Civil and military exports grew 16% each, overall sales grew 13%, and even employment registered a gain. Profits, on the other hand, declined during the quarter as costs outpaced sales. Still, the aerospace industry posted a record $13 billion in profits in 2005.
