Electronic Enterprise Integration Committee (EEIC)
The Electronic Enterprise Working Group (EEWG) was formed under the Supplier Management Council and was directed by the AIA electronic Business Steering Group (eBSG) to reduce and eliminate divergent Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) requirements imposed on suppliers and to create user-friendly, cost effective e-commerce solutions. In 1996, the working group consisting of regular and associate members created implementation conventions (ICs) for each business transaction and trading partner agreement. Successful trading partner agreements templates along with the ICs have been re-validated through a rigorous internal review process by AIA Committee and Council and a public review, and will become part of AIA’s National Aerospace Standards.
The EEWG, directed by the AIA electronic Business Steering Group (eBSG), has used its successful harmonization process on ICs and adopted the Universal Data Element Framework (UDEF) as the tool to accomplish this direction and is developing the approach necessary for industry-wide implementation.
At the beginning of 2004, a new paradigm was established for Electronic Business (eB) in the AIA. Its focus is on the integration of associate members at every level of eB activity in the association. The basic reasons for this new initiative are that implementation of eB throughout the supply base requires a partnership between customer and supplier. It has been found that suppliers need to take ownership of the implementation and they also have excellent ideas in developing policy and processes for execution. Continuing this paradigm, the SMC EEWG will disband as a working group and be fully integrated into the Electronic Enterprise Integration Committee (EEIC) under the direction of eBSG and the Supplier Management Council.
