A new era is dawning for the SMC - one of creative collaboration. The SMC has set a goal of moving from an issue-based organization to a relationship-based organization, while supplier issues in doing business with large companies remain a focus. Creative collaboration is partnering in out-of-the-box ways to bring value to all of our members. SMC Working Groups are key to successful creative collaboration.

  • Electronic Enterprise Integration Committee (EEIC)
The Electronic Enterprise Integration Committee (EEIC) focuses on the integration of associate members at every level of Electronic Business (eB) activity in the association. Its revitalization in early 2004 from the Electronic Enterprise Working Group (EEWG) in 2004 was due the recognition that eB throughout the supply base requires a strong partnership between customer and supplier. Suppliers need to take ownership of the implementation of this initiative and they also have also presented excellent ideas in developing policy and processes for the execution of eB.

  • Socio-economic Working Group
Approximately 20 percent of AIA's associate members are Small Disadvantaged Businesses (SDBs) and Women-Owned Small Businesses (WOSBs). The SMC established the Socio-economic Working Group to support these businesses by acting as an advocate to the government for SDB and WOSB issues and to help them reach the commercial and global marketplaces.

  • Creative Collaboration Working Group
The Creative Collaboration Working Group is dedicated to building and improving relationships between suppliers and large companies. This group is working toward defining the relationship, the tools, and requirements necessary to help associate members become a connected part of the integrated supply chain.

  • Legislative Working Group
The Legislative Working Group aims to educate, train and help associate member engage in the political process of improving aerospace related legislation. Through several initiatives throughout the year, suppliers have the opportunity to convey their messages and the messages of AIA to Congress. After having already recruited over a dozen new Representatives for the House Aerospace Caucus, the Legislative Working Group is striving to forge new relationships and maintain existing ones with elected officials.

  • Services Working Group
The SMC Services Working Group was formed in 2004 for the purpose of engaging the emerging number of companies offering services and products by fellow AIA and SMC members. It was decided that the solutions providers be able to provide a central point where AIA and SMC members can learn about best practices offered by member companies.

The white papers contributed by SMC members offer solutions to a number of industry challenges are addressed. We encourage you to contact the companies directly if you see a white paper that addresses your particular need.
