Celebrating the Nation We Secure

This 4th of July celebrates the 243rd anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States. Throughout our history, the aerospace and defense industry has been an essential part of our nation’s security, supporting the servicemembers who have sacrificed so much for the freedom we Americans hold dear.

That was exactly our role 75 years ago last month – when American forces stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. As our soldiers risked their lives that day to reclaim Europe from Nazi Germany and the forces of fascism, their courage was backed by the U.S. aerospace and defense industry – the ‘Arsenal of Democracy’ – whose tanks, ships, and airplanes helped make those victories possible.

Today, the men and women of America’s aerospace and defense industry continue to provide the innovative tools and capabilities that keep our country safe. From groundbreaking platforms like the F-35 and the Littoral Combat Ship to cutting-edge research in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and hypersonics, our industry is indispensable in supporting American servicemembers and strengthening American security.

So this July 4th, while we enjoy the fireworks and barbecues, let’s also honor those who have served and defended our “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” for more than 240 years. And let’s remember the aerospace and defense industry that proudly has their backs.
