AIA Names Ben Stone Vice President of Membership

Arlington, Va. — The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) has appointed Benjamin Stone as its Vice President of Membership & Strategic Development. In this role he will lead AIA’s membership and business development activity and oversee its Supplier Management Council.

“I’m excited to bring Ben on board in this critical role,” said AIA President and CEO Eric Fanning. “His deep knowledge of business development, government contracting, and trade association work make him perfectly suited to strengthen our membership efforts and support member companies in the supply chain. Our small and medium-sized businesses are the lifeblood of aerospace and defense.”

Prior to joining AIA, Stone was Head of Business Development, Renewables + Storage at Enel Green Power North America, where he led the Company’s business development efforts to identify, evaluate, and implement a portfolio of hybrid power plants, with an associated capital investment of over $1 billion, including business development efforts with the U.S. Department of Defense.  Stone was also responsible for overseeing the company’s business development efforts associated with re-powering operating plants to significantly extend the life of current operating assets and improve profitability.

Stone also spent ten years with Alenia Aermacchi SpA, including serving from 2013-2015 as the President & CEO of Alenia Aermacchi North America where he was responsible for overseeing Alenia’s business activities in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Stone previously worked for the National Defense Industrial Association on international trade policy and programs.
