AIA Names Alison Lynn Vice President of Communications

Arlington, Va. — The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) has selected Alison Lynn as its Vice President of Communications. In this role, she will help shape AIA’s advocacy and lead the communications division as AIA tells the stories of how the American aerospace and defense industry moves, connects, and inspires people in the United States and around the world.

“Our industry has contributed to society in countless ways and will continue to shape our future with new and innovative technologies,” said AIA President and CEO Eric Fanning. “Alison’s communications expertise, national security knowledge, and Hill chops will be invaluable as we continue to tell the compelling stories of our industry and build on a standout centennial year.”

Lynn joins AIA from the American Chemistry Council, where she was the Senior Director for Product Communications, serving as senior advisor, strategist, and spokesperson. Previously, Lynn was a trusted aide to U.S. Representative Mac Thornberry, serving first as his Communications Director and later as the Spokesperson and Director of Member Initiatives for the House Committee on Armed Services.

“Joining the top-notch team at AIA is an incredible honor,” said Lynn.  “I am truly looking forward to combining my experience and enthusiasm for American national security and global competitiveness as we work together to advocate for our aerospace and defense industry.”

Throughout her career, Lynn has held many critical communications positions in government and associations. Before working for Rep. Thornberry, she served as a spokesperson and strategic communications advisor for the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration and the Office of Governor Luis G. Fortuño. She also led U.S. Representative Michael Burgess’ communications efforts and served as a speechwriter to the U.S. Secretary of Transportation.
