AIA Applauds House Passage of Bipartisan FY20 National Defense Authorization Act

Arlington, Va. — House passage of the Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (FY20 NDAA) is a critical step toward ensuring the timely, stable funding and vital strategic direction that both the Department of Defense (DOD) and the aerospace and defense industry rely on. By passing this bill, the House sends a signal to America’s partners and allies that the United States remains committed to an international framework built on freedom, security, and shared prosperity.

“The FY20 NDAA upholds the nation’s responsibility to ensure that American forces have the tools they need, including changes to address our growing national security space threats,” said Aerospace Industries Association President and CEO Eric Fanning. “As a vital part of our national security space enterprise, we are encouraged by the heightened focus on national security space the creation of the Space Force will bring.”

The bill includes a number of important priorities for the aerospace and defense industry, including reforms in the defense acquisition process, and increased investment in modernization and research and development to meet the requirements of the National Defense Strategy.

We urge Congress and the Administration to finalize both this authorization act and a defense budget this year that supports our armed forces and bolsters national security.
