What do you find exciting about your area of focus or your specific job at BAE Systems?
Computer Engineering teaches you how to build the brains of the computer. All the richness you experience in the digital world – HD TV, better graphics in PlayStation/XBOX, faster computers, etc… — is possible because of the faster brains that are built by Computer Engineers. At BAE Systems we build chips (brains) that go into applications like the Mars Rover and satellites, and it’s exciting to know that your chips are circling our planet or exploring a different planet.

Why do you think young adults should consider careers in STEM?
As kids, we enjoy interacting with our surroundings, we break things, we build things and we redo it all over again – just because it’s fun and we like the challenge. It’s a good feeling when you stay in touch with your curious, adventurous younger self. Every child is curious. We were born that way. If you pursue a career in STEM, you get to solve problems your entire life. If you take on an important problem, and if you try hard enough, you can impact the entire world.
