What do you find exciting about your area of focus or your specific job at Harris Corporation?
Working in the defense industry and specially at a company like Harris is very exciting due to the diversity of work we do. In my short career here, I’ve been able to work designing space products as well as avionics. All the programs present unique challenges and we are given the resources to innovate and come up with solutions that push the envelope using emerging technologies. I love being able to express my creativity and having my colleagues encourage the development of those ideas. Beyond the technical challenges, it’s very satisfying to know that our products are directly contributing to keeping our troops and our country safe.
Why do you think young adults should consider careers in STEM?
A career in STEM gives you the tools to change the world. It trains you to be a critical thinker and a problem solver. There are so many career paths you can follow with a STEM degree. If you are passionate about science and technology, there is no better reward than being able to work doing what you love every day.
