The Facts

1.    In 2018, the U.S. Aerospace & Defense industry generated $374 billion in value-added products and services. This includes $104 billion for commercial aerospace, $62 billion for defense & national security and $76 billion for related services.

2.    The total contributions of the U.S. A&D industry to the U.S. economy accounted for 1.8% of U.S. Gross Domestic Product in 2018.

3.    For every one million dollars of direct sales activity, six employees are supported throughout the entire industry.

4.    On average, every $100 of direct sales activity in the A&D industry stimulated $80 of additional GDP and supported $50 of labor income in the U.S.

5.    A&D is responsible for more than 5% of manufacturing value-added in 15 U.S. states, respectively. Taken together, these states account for $94 billion in manufacturing activity or 71% of total A&D manufacturing value-added.
