Arlington, Va. – Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning today released the following statement on the fiscal year 2026 budget request for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA):
“The Aerospace Industries Association has always stood firmly behind NASA and NOAA in their missions to push the limits of science and technology to protect the homeland, strengthen our economy, and advance American aerospace superiority,” Fanning said. “The proposed budget falls short, making heavy-handed cuts to mission-critical programs that could jeopardize our space leadership. While we support a fiscally responsible federal budget, this proposal could stifle the innovation that makes the American space industry great and generates high-paying jobs and continued economic growth.
“AIA urges Congress and the Administration to find a path forward that will bolster NASA and NOAA’s budgets to reinforce American dominance in space and keep our nation ahead of global competitors.”
AIA has previously called on Congress to provide no less than $25.5 billion for NASA and to fund NOAA’s space accounts no less than $1.7 billion for fiscal year 2026. AIA has also recommended stable budgets and multi-year planning across a balanced portfolio to ensure ongoing U.S. leadership in space.
