The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) recently submitted feedback to the European Commission on the European Union Space Act (EUSA), underscoring the importance of transparent, harmonized global space regulations that promote safety, sustainability, and innovation. The comments highlight opportunities to refine the draft to support fair access, encourage interoperability, and advance international best practices such as debris mitigation and the protection of Dark and Quiet Skies. AIA also stresses the need to build on well-established regulatory frameworks, avoid unintended impacts on competition—particularly for operators of large satellite systems—and carefully assess provisions that could extend EU authority beyond its borders or conflict with U.S. export control laws. AIA and our members appreciate the Commission’s commitment to responsible space governance and look forward to continued engagement to help shape a framework that strengthens transatlantic collaboration and supports a thriving global space industry.
