Arlington, Va. – Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning today released the following statement after Secretary Duffy and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that several companies will participate in a first-of-its-kind program that will test electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) and advanced air mobility (AAM) technology.
“What once felt futuristic is now becoming real: thanks to industry innovation, autonomous flight is moving from concept to capability,” Fanning said. “The Advanced Air Mobility and Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing Integration Pilot Program will provide the stepping stones to begin safely and effectively integrating these new capabilities into our National Airspace System. AIA thanks President Trump, Secretary Duffy, and the FAA for their leadership in unleashing American ingenuity in aviation, and we look forward to seeing our members’ innovations help shape the future of flight.”
