Arlington, Va. — The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) today announced that Russ Blauw has joined the organization as Vice President of Membership and Strategic Direction, bringing decades of leadership experience to AIA. With Blauw’s addition, AIA continues to strengthen its executive team to better serve its members and advance policies that support a strong, innovative, and globally competitive aerospace and defense industry.
“The Aerospace Industries Association’s strength comes from our members, and Russ brings the kind of experience and perspective that will make an immediate impact for them,” said AIA President and CEO Eric Fanning. “His operational background, strategic leadership, and deep understanding of the aerospace and defense industrial base will be invaluable as we drive growth, advocate on the issues that matter most, and continue to strengthen AIA’s role as the voice of the industry.”
Blauw joins AIA following nearly three decades of service in the U.S. Marine Corps including multiple command tours, deployments, and high-level staff tours in the Pentagon. He then served an additional five years as a civilian with the Marine Corps as a member of the Senior Executive Service. Most recently, he consulted on defense acquisition and sustainment, advising on complex operational and readiness challenges. He has an extensive background supporting Marine Aviation and the Naval Aviation Enterprise as an Aviation Logistician, specializing in aircraft maintenance and aviation sustainment.
Blauw holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Florida State University, a master’s degree from the U.S. Naval War College, and a master’s degree from the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy.
