Arlington, Va. (Jan. 18, 2024) – Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning today released the following statement after Congress sent another short-term government funding bill to the President’s desk:

“Full-year funding for the federal government – especially for the Department of Defense, Federal Aviation Administration, and NASA – is necessary, but doing so adequately and correctly is just as important,” Fanning said. “We understand that Congress needs more time to hammer out the details of fiscal year 2024 appropriations, and while it’s not the outcome we hoped for nearly four months into the year, we expect this short reprieve will enable Congress to find an acceptable path forward. The industry that powers the aviation economy and secures the country requires full-year federal funding to maintain U.S. global leadership.”

Earlier this month, Fanning sent a letter to congressional leaders urging the passage of adequate full-year appropriations legislation.
