Arlington, Va (March 21, 2024) – Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning today released the following statement after Congress unveiled final appropriations legislation for the Department of Defense for fiscal year 2024:

“The Department of Defense, supported by the defense industrial base, keeps America safe, but it cannot fulfill its mission without sufficient, predictable funding. The fiscal year 2024 appropriations agreement to fund the Pentagon and other key agencies is a necessary step in the right direction,” Fanning said. “With global instability on the rise, it is more important than ever to provide stability to our military, clear demand signals to industry, and an unwavering message of strength to our allies and partners.

“While we are grateful Congress has come to an agreement, the time it has taken to reach this deal has wasted money and placed undue risk on the national security of the United States. Congress should avoid repeating this cycle and instead pass full appropriations legislation ahead of the annual September deadline. Today, we urge Congress to pass this legislation and President Biden to swiftly sign this bill into law.”

AIA has long called for on-time appropriations to support the Department of Defense, FAA, NASA, and other agencies that support America’s aerospace and defense industry. Read AIA’s most recent letter to Congress here
