Arlington, Va. — Today, Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning released the following statement on the successful landing of NASA’s Perseverance rover on Mars:

“Since launching on an Atlas V rocket over half a year ago, Perseverance has been on course to expand our knowledge of Mars. With its successful landing, this newest rover will build on the work of its predecessors and lay the groundwork for future missions, including sending humans to our neighboring planet.

“AIA congratulates NASA, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, industry partners, and all the workers behind this incredible landing. The rover’s name is fitting, as this achievement is the culmination of years of continual hard work by government and industry leaders—and there’s still more work ahead. Whether through seeking signs of ancient life or helping test the first powered flight on the planet with the Ingenuity Mars Helicopter, Perseverance will both inform the next wave of space initiatives and inspire the next generation of space professionals.”
