Arlington, Va. – The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) today released the following statement after U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Green announced the initiation of Section 301 investigation into China’s upholding of the 2020 Phase One trade agreement, which included agreements to purchase aerospace products.

The following can be attributed to an AIA spokesperson:

“The Aerospace Industries Association welcomes the U.S. Trade Representative’s review of the Phase One trade agreement with China. As the only major U.S. manufacturing sector to export more than we import, the aerospace industry relies on strong, enforceable trade policies that promote fair, reciprocal access to global markets — buoying American jobs, driving economic growth, and spurring innovation.

“The Phase One agreement, negotiated during President Trump’s first administration, was a landmark achievement. It addressed critical concerns around intellectual property theft and forced technology transfer, and included historic purchase commitments — with aerospace and other manufactured goods at the forefront. Continued progress toward these goals is essential.

“We are encouraged by President Trump, Secretary Bessent, and Ambassador Greer’s ongoing commitment to trade deals that protect American jobs, intellectual property, and U.S. leadership. AIA looks forward to continuing to work closely with this Administration to advance trade policies that benefit U.S. manufacturers in markets around the world.”
