Arlington, Va. (Feb. 20, 2024) – The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), the leading voice for the American aerospace and defense industry, today announced that environmental policy expert David Hyde has returned to the association as Senior Director of Sustainability, effective today. 

“Reducing our environmental footprint remains a top priority for AIA and our member companies, and David will be a great resource for us as we continue working closely with the federal government to achieve these goals,” said Eric Fanning, AIA’s President and CEO. “David’s expertise will strengthen AIA’s voice in Washington, DC, and advance the technology, policy, and strategy needed to secure a more sustainable future for aviation.” 

Hyde rejoins AIA from his previous position as Autonomous Systems Lead of Aviation and Aerospace Projects Lead of Sustainable Aviation at the World Economic Forum, where he drove efforts to advance hydrogen and electric aviation. Before his role at the World Economic Forum, Hyde served as Director of Environmental Policy at AIA. Hyde has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University, as well as a Master’s degree of Science in Global Politics from the University of London.
