Arlington, VA – The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) today announced Patrick Walsh, an expert in procurement and government acquisition policy, has joined the organization as the Senior Director of Procurement Policy.

“The way in which our industry conducts business with the U.S. government—particularly with the Pentagon—is rapidly evolving and demand is growing, so it’s imperative that AIA has experts to assist our members in understanding the changing environment. AIA is proud to welcome Patrick Walsh to our team to leverage his expertise in procurement and defense systems to meet this moment,” Fanning said. “With over a decade working in and around the defense and national security sector, I have no doubt that Patrick will be an asset to our member companies and the entire AIA organization.”

Walsh most recently served with the United States Marshals Service at the Department of Justice. Before joining the Department of Justice, Walsh served as a Chief of Contracting Office within the Department of Homeland Security where he spearheaded a streamlined contacting vehicle, earning him the DHS Innovation in Contracting Award.

He has also supported the Department of Defense working at the F-35 Joint Program Office, where he led the largest U.S. government aircraft engine purchase in history. He spent several years as a Contracting Officer and Contracts Specialist at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base where he created a streamlined $300 million contract vehicle for hypersonics research at the Air Force Research Laboratory.

Walsh is a published author on procurement, is a frequent speaker on contracting topics, and has held unlimited contracting officer warrants from the U.S. Navy, Department of Homeland Security, and Department of Justice. He holds a Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting and is a Certified Professional Contract Manager through the National Contract Management Association. Walsh holds a Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor, both from The Ohio State University.
