Matt MurphySenior Director, Acquisition Policy
Matt Murphy is the Senior Director of Acquisition Policy at the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA). In this role, he serves as AIA’s primary resource on defense acquisition policy and helps members navigate and advocate for improvements to the defense acquisition system.
Most recently, he served as Special Projects Lead in the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Strategy and Acquisition Reform. In this capacity, he led several major reform initiatives to streamline and modernize the acquisition processes of both the Department of the Army and the Department of Defense. During his tenure, he successfully orchestrated reforms focused on eliminating redundant acquisition procedures and expediting contract award timelines.
Prior to that, Murphy held roles in industry supporting both the Department of the Army and the Office of the Secretary of Defense, with a focus on defense acquisition policy and legislation. Between 2009 and 2015, he also advocated on behalf of military servicemembers, families, and veterans as a member of the government relations team at the Military Officers Association of America.
Murphy holds a Master of Arts in International Commerce and Policy from the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from James Madison University.
