The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) joined an aviation coalition to file comments in response to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) on Upper C-Band spectrum reallocation. This NPRM addresses the legislative mandate to reallocate at least 100 MHz in the range of 3.98 to 4.20 GHz, which is immediately adjacent to aviation’s radar altimeter frequencies. The comments included a request that the FCC limit spurious emissions in the radar altimeter band, advocacy for reimbursement of aviation retrofits, and recommendations on timing of retrofits.
